HIC – Health in Communities

We are working with local groups to bring health services closer to you.

By teaming up with organisations in Sale West and Sale Moor, we want to make getting health support easier for everyone.

Drop-In Health Services

You can see an NHS nurse advisor during foodbank sessions in your area. This is a free, drop-in service—no need to book an appointment.

  • Sale Moor Community Centre: Mondays, 09:30–14:00
  • Our Sale West Youth Centre: Tuesdays, 09:30–14:00

Nurses are there to give advice, do health checks, and offer support to help you stay healthy.

Community Support

  • Community Map: We’re part of a research project with the University of York to create a Sale Community Map, which highlights local activities, walks, meeting places, places of worship, and more to improve wellbeing. This map is built by a community panel of local residents and will help social prescribers and all local people connect with resources in their area.
  • NHS Volunteer Responders: Friendly volunteers can help with tasks or have a chat. Refer someone you know at NHS Volunteer Responders or call 0808 196 3646.

Our Neighbourhood Plan

We’re working to make health and wellbeing better for everyone locally. Key aims include:

  1. Heart and Lung Health: Helping people stay active and get health checks.
  2. Mental Health Support: Offering early help and raising awareness.
  3. Cancer Awareness: Teaching people about cancer and supporting local campaigns.
  4. Community Connections: Linking health services to local groups, especially for those who need extra help.
  5. Listening to Residents: Making sure your voices shape the work we do.

Together, we are improving access to health services and supporting healthier lives in our community.
